The County Administrative Board's work in developing rural areas, involves supporting the ideas and commitment of other stakeholders to make it easier to run a business, find employment and obtain attractive living conditions. We utilize the unique conditions of each rural area, thus contributing to positive development.

Rural Development Programme 2014-2020

The Rural Development Programme is intended to contribute to profitable and vigorous companies; active farmers who give us an open countryside with grazing animals; and modern rural areas. In spring 2014 the Government is going to take the formal decision to submit the draft of a new rural development programme for the period 2014–2020 to the European Commission.  Then the Commission has six months to examine and approve the programme.

What applies to 2014?

In September 2013 the Government decided, as a transitional measure, to extend certain environmental measures from the previous rural development programme in 2014. The agri-environmental payments covered by this decision are agri-environmental payments for the management of semi-natural pastures and mown meadows, payments for cultivated grassland and payments for organic production. In addition, the compensatory allowance is being extended in 2014.

The measures in the new rural development programme will be opened for applications successively in the period 2014 to 2016.
