Finland’s national parks and other protected areas provide great opportunities for voluntary work all over Finland. Typical voluntary activities include nature enthusiasts participating in the observation of species as well as camps at which volunteers manage heritage landscapes by mowing and clearing. Volunteers also help to renovate valuable old buildings and manage game and fish populations in state-owned land areas.
This work is very important to the Finnish natural environment. The input of volunteers who work with us is equivalent to approximately 20 person-years. The protection and management of our natural and cultural treasures also brings joy to the volunteer. In volunteer events and at voluntary work camps or as an expert volunteer, you can engage in concrete activities to benefit protected areas, threatened species and cultural heritage, as well as for your own recreation.
The events and camps are organised in cooperation with various partners such as organisations, friends associations and companies. For example, more and more companies and other organisations are participating in nature conservation by sponsoring a specific protected area of their choice.
National parks and other protected areas are constantly looking for new ideas for voluntary work that bring joy and well-being, as well as for people to put them into action. We also give a Volunteer of the Year Award every other year.
Our operations are based on the riches of nature and natural resources. Richness can be material, physical or mental.
