Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos in Inari starts offering digital cinema screenings from December onwards. The new digital cinema projector enables high quality screenings with luminosity and sharpness of such a high quality that takes the movie experience to the new level. The new projector will be tested in practice for the first time, when The Indigenous Peoples’s Film Centre Skábma, and Filbmari Film Club will start screenings in December.

Barco DP4k-32B cinema projector with a 4K resolution was installed in the auditorium in Sami Cultural Centre Sajos. The projector is similar to the ones you can find in Finnkino´s biggest theatres in cities like Helsinki or Turku. It is possible to have HFR-screenings (60fps 4k or 120fps 2K) with it. Also DCP transmission through the internet enables the screenings of premiers at the same time as they are shown in other places, even in Hollywood or Kautokeino.

The high quality sound system in Sajos auditorium has been tuned even more to suite the cinema sound, so that the viewers will have best possible movie experience. The cinema screen in the auditorium is 12,5 meters wide, which is quite big even in Finnish scale. The projector will also be used in theatre productions and screening of high resolution photographs. Also 3D-screening will be possible in the future.

Real test for the projector will be during the Indigenous Peoples Film Festival Skábmakova next January. The program for the Filbmari Film Club screenings in Sajos can be found on their Facebook pages.

Finnish Film Board has subsidised the project with 30 000 euros.
