Ijahis Idja music festival introduces melodies from “Wild Fells” in 2015 PDF Print
Ijahis idja is a festival celebrating the music of indigenous people which has been held in Inari since 2004. In 2015 the festival takes place 14th-16thof August, and it´s theme is "Wild Fells".

 

The purpose of the theme is to emphasize on Enontekiö area joik traditions and also modern sámi music. The event is the only music festival held in Finland that concentrates on Sámi music. Every year Ijahis idja festival also includes guest performers from other indigenous backgrounds in its concerts, music seminars, workshops, clubs and other side events.

 

Ijahis idja is jointly organized by Anára Sámisearvi ry, the Sámi Parliament, the Sámi Education Institute, Sámi Museum Siida, the Giellagas Institute, the University of Oulu, Yle Sápmi, the municipality of Inari, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland/Regional Office of Lapland, Hotel Kultahovi and Restaurant Lyeme.
