Jeg vil også gratulere FNs menneskerettighetsråd med deres utnevnelse. Anaya har både personlige og faglige egenskaper som vil gjøre ham til en meget god spesialrapportør.
Sist, men ikke minst vil jeg uttrykke min takknemlighet til Rodolfo Stavenhagen og den jobben har har gjort som FNs spesialrapportør for urfolks rettigheter og fundamentale friheter. Måten Stavenhagen har utført sine oppgaver på som spesialrapportør er et godt eksempel til etterfølgelse. –Jeg er sikker på at Anaya vil leve opp til de forventninger vi har til ham, og Samisk Parlamentarisk Råd ser fram til å samarbeide med den nye spesialrapportøren, avslutter Olli.

James Anaya appointed as UN Special rapporteur on the rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples.
-On the behalf of the Saami Parliamentary Council I want to congratulate Mr James Anaya with his appointment as UN Special rapporteur, says president of the Saami Parliamentary Council Egil Olli.
I also want to congratulate the Human Rights Council for their decision of appointing Mr Anaya as special rapporteur. -Mr Anaya has both professional and personal qualities that should make him well qualified as the next special rapporteur on the rights and fundamental freedoms of Indigenous peoples.
Last but not least, I want to express our gratitude to Mr Rodolfo Stavenhagen. Mr. Stavenhagen's way of approach and efforts to carry out the mandate for the greater good of indigenous peoples, has established standards that surely can serve as guidelines for the new mandate holder. -I am sure that Mr Anaya will live up to our expectations, and the Saami Parliamentary Council look forward to working with the new special rapporteur, says Olli in closing.
