Torunn Pettersen holds a PhD in health sciences from UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2015). She has a second level degree ("hovedfag") in political science (UiT 1998) and a three-year education as a librarian (Statens bibliotekhøgskole 1983). Since 1989, she has had various positions at Sámi allaskuvla / Sámi University College (including a position at the former Sámi Instituhtta / Nordic Sámi Institute). Currently, she works as a researcher (part-time) at the Department of Social Sciences. She also serves as the Vice-Dean of this departement (temporarily, 01.01.-31.12.17).
