This directory contains files with voice recordings of male and female voice for the North saami speech synthesis, and the recorded text for each sound file. !!!The files Male recordings and accompanying text are found under TTSM_alle, while female recordings and accompanying text are found under TTSF_alle. All sound files are .aif while text files are mostly .doc or .docx. The corresponding sound and text files have the same title. The text files have been modified according to the actual reading of the voice talents. Therefore the text files for male and female voice are not identical. The texts follow the rules for standard orthography in general. However, if the reading of the voice talent was inaccurate, the text has been modified accordingly. For example, if an 'nc' consonant cluster is pronounced more like 'nzz', the word is altered according to the reading, with the result that the word is no longer recognized by Divvun. !!!The voice talents Both voice talents speak the Guovdageaidnu dialect of North Sámi. The reading chosen for the TTS project is a conservative Guovdageaidnu dialect. Some distinctions that are lost in less conservative variants are therefore retained in the recordings, such as the difference between 'žž' and 'ddj', 'čč' and 'dj' and 'sk' and 'tk'. The talents were instructed to retain these and other distinctions in their readings. !!!The recordings The female voice was recorded between 30.07.2011-01.08.2011. The male voice was recorded between 20.04.2011-24.04.2011 and 18.06.2011-20.06.2011. All recordings were done at the studio of Guovdageainnu Lagasradio (GLR) in Guovdageaidnu. * Microphone: Microtech Gefell (Neumann) UM 70, cardioid pattern. * Software: Sound Studio (Mac). * Format: AIFF mono. 16 bit solution, 44,1 khz sampling frequency. !!!License of the voice recordings The Saami Parliament of Norway retains full rights to the sound files, and is eligible to do whatever it wants with them. The recordings cannot be used without the written consent of The Saami Parliament.
