Norwegian language tuition and introduction programme

If newly arrived immigrants are to integrate well, it is important that they can obtain employment and education and participate in society at large. Newly arrived refugees have the right and obligation to participate in a full-time introduction programme of up to two year's duration.

Participation in the civil society is a requirement if democracy is to function. NGOs play an important role in creating an inclusive society for all.

Community engagement

In some areas with major and complex challenges in living conditions the central and local authorities join forces to make an extra effort. Groruddalen and Søndre Nordstrand in Oslo, Saupstad in Trondheim and Årstad in Bergen are the areas where central and local authorities have initiated such joint efforts.
