On behalf of the Secretary General, the secretariat prepares, quality-assures, coordinates and priorities all issues that are submitted to the Minister. Accordingly, the secretariat maintains overall responsibility for the Minister's activities. The Secretariat also includes a military assistant to the Minister. In addition to performing staff functions for the Minister, the secretariat also supports the other members of the political staff as well as the Secretary General function. Administratively the secretariat is attached to the Secretary General.
