The Legislation Department is the legal expertise department serving the Government and the central government administration. The department is responsible for drafting legislation in a number of areas within both public and private law: the Constitution, legislation concerning major human rights conventions, legislation concerning the public administration and freedom of information, procedural legislation, criminal legislation, law of contract, bankruptcy legislation, and legislation associated with real property and with inheritance and probate. The department also provides advice to other ministries on legal issues, especially the interpretation of current legislation and the planning of legislation.
The department is not divided into sections and units.
